King Letsie III 60th birthday which is celebrated at Setsoto
stadium in Maseru on today (Monday) has brought mixed reactions amongst people in the district.
Some street vendors who commented on condition of anonymity noted that even though the day is regarded as a public holiday, to them the celebration is a normal day hence they would still be at their various workstations trying to make ends meet.
Others indicated that Mondays celebration is a big day for Basotho Nation as they celebrate one thing that is of utmost importance to them, noting that this is the only event whereby the nation celebrates without any political affiliation but unity.
The celebration was last held in Sebapala, Quthing in 2019, but was put on hold in 2020, 2021 and 2022 respectively because of the Covid-19 pandemic. King Letsie Mohato Bereng Seeiso who was born in July, 17, 1963 at Scott Hospital in Morija, is the first son of the late King Moshoeshoe II and Queen Mother Mamohato Bereng Seeiso.
