The Ministry Of Health under the District Health Management Team (DHMT) will on August, 28 embark on a dental health campaign at various schools in the district.

This was confirmed by the Dental Therapist  Mrs. Happiness Manyonga in an interview with the Agency, where she noted that they will be targeting children from 6 years to 18 respectively.

Mrs. Manyonga  highlighted that the purpose of the campaign is to instill good dental habits among children, noting that  children  will be given consent forms to be signed by parents or guardians in order to get services which will be offered at the time.

She indicated that 80 percent of tooth problems emanate from decay, therefore their focus will be on lowering the rate of tooth removals due to decay, and services will include health education, screening, tooth filling and fissure sealants.

Mrs. Manyonga articulated that in last year's campaign they managed to reach 7 primary schools with about 3008 children, and this year's theme is Protect Your Teeth - Avoid Tooth Loss.
