A 22-year-old woman of Keiting, in the district of Qacha’s Nek has appeared before Magistrate court yesterday for neglecting her three children aged six, five and two.

She is charged with contravention of Child Protection and Welfare Act of 2011 section 44 (1) on that between January 2023 to June, the accused unlawfully left the children, a girl and two boys at night subjecting them to physical and psychological risk.

The accused pleaded innocent. However, she did not ask to be released on bail saying she is broke to even afford bail. The accused expressed sadness saying she is accused and will be imprisoned for not taking care of her children yet she does not have means to.

She further told the court that last Saturday, she buried her eight months child who died of malnutrition and the youngest whom she is going to prison with is also malnourished.
