A delegation of the Panel of Elders from Southern African Development Community (SADC) which is led by the Former President of Tanzania and also the Chairman of Panel of Elders Dr. Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete is back in Lesotho to analyze the Reforms progress.

Dr. Kikwete said they came to Lesotho in February this year as a follow up on Lesotho’s progress on reforms especially the Omnibus Bill which was passed by Parliament but later nullified by courts of Law.

He therefore indicated that they have come back to analyze progress made so far to ensure implementation of the reforms as well as to get the perspective of the new government on how they see the progress of reforms, especially the omnibus bill.

He also said they will report back to SADC on where Lesotho is now on reforms, prior to the summit to be held next month. He further explained that currently things look good and promising as far as reforms are concerned.

Lesotho’s journey of reforms started in 2018 with districts consultations to diaspora and other several activities, from the First and Second Multi Stakeholders meetings where comprehensive reforms report covering seven areas being constitution, security, the economy, judiciary, public service, parliament and media was presented to the Mediator, Justice Moseneke on behalf of President Cyril Ramaphosa.
