The Department of Nutrition in the Ministry of Agriculture Food Security and Nutrition will hold a one day supplementary feeding demonstration at Matelile on Thursday next week.

The activity is expected to attract child bearing mothers, guardians and members of the established Nutrition Clubs in the area of Matelile Resource Center.

Ministry's Nutritionist Mrs. Limpho Ramanyaka said the activity is aimed at strengthening infant feeding for healthy growth free from childhood diseases, highlighting that as part of the initiative the attendees will be expected to cook healthy foods using readily available resources rather than buying.

Ramanyaka indicated that the initiative is one of the government policies through the Ministry of Agriculture Food Security and Nutrition to strengthen infant feeding.

She highlighted that infants should be fed healthy nutritious foods with all nutrients needed by the young body, saying the country is experiencing malnutrition problems, among children under the age of five hence the initiative.

The activity is among a series to be held within various district resource centers in promotion of healthy feeding among children under five infants while at the same time is in preparation of the World Food Day commemoration.
