Postmortem results of a 60-year-old man, from Thaba Tseka, who died while in police custody, indicated that his death was not caused by police assault. This was said by Inspector Mothibeli Makhetha on Thursday, and he also stated that the deceased was arrested on Friday for contravening Road Traffic rules.

Inspector Makhetha reported that on Friday night while the deceased was in a cell with other suspects, the deceased had signs of losing strength. He said the police took him out and later was taken to hospital where he was declared dead.

He further noted that the family had demanded that a Postmortem should be done to find out if he was assaulted, adding that the family had outsourced their own Doctor and the postmortem was done by two Doctors whose reports were the same.

He continued to indicate that inside the deceased pockets they found Kubere and other powders in small quantities and they suspect the other was poison (mafenetha).
