25 August 2023 | 14:53

As the Basotho nation is set to celebrate 200 years of existence next year, Project-Re has encouraged the nation to strive for unity.

Project-Re Deputy Chairperson Mr. Mathealira Seholo-holo uttered these words when briefing Berea Heads of Departments during their monthly meeting held at District Administrator’s on Thursday.

Mr. Seholo-holo said in celebration of such milestone  as the nation, King Letsie III will light the revival torch in the National Assembly  on the date to be known and it will  circulate among the districts and Butha-Bothe will be the first to welcome  it in October, then Leribe and Berea  in December.

Moreover, Seholo-holo indicated as the nation they need to develop a deep self-introspection or revisit cultural way of living, norms and values, therefore the Project-RE is going to use sports, arts and dialogues in order to increase public knowledge about the reasons for celebrating 200 years of existence.

Berea District Administrator Mr. Phahlane Makoko viewed that the revival journey of Basotho nation has started and there is a need to maintain regular communication with relevant stakeholders.

Mr. Makoko also said they will unite key stakeholders to map a way forward with preparations and to roll out public awareness campaigns so that every individual can feel the sense of ownership of the activity.
