Hlotse Methodist Primary School through Inclusive disability department will on September 12 hold Inclusive Education Awareness Day at Hlotse in Leribe. According to Special Education teacher Mrs.Mathuso Lekhanya, the day will be graced through a march starting from Hlotse High school via Linare road into Hlotse town passing taxi rank back to the starting point. Explaining the event to the agency Mrs. Lekhanya said the purpose of the march is awareness to the public that Hlotse Methodist is already admitting children with disability.

She indicated that the school admits children with all kinds of disabilities. Mrs. Lekhanya said the school is calling out to parents to bring their children, where they are to mix with children who are said to be normal. She highlighted that in preparation for admitting the children, they had sensitized the normal

children on disability so that they are prepared to accommodate those disabled. Again, she said the school has also established an Inclusive Disability Club, comprising of disabled and normal pupils, whereby they raise funds and hold revival sessions. In addition, she pointed out thus far the school has admitted about 30 pupils with disability.

Mrs. Lekhanya reminded that this comes after Inclusive Education Policy by government in 2018, saying they were sensitized on the policy on teaching both disabled and normal children. Hlotse Methodist Primary School was selected as one of the pilot schools. The event is supported by Touch Root Africa, United Nations Children  and Lesotho National Federation of Organisations For the Disabled (LNFOD).
