At least 25 students from Morija Girls High School who recently tested positive for COVID-19 are stable. This was said by Morija Girls High School Principal Mrs. Maselina Matia in an interview with the Agency.

She said the school discovered last week that some students are sick and were taken to Scott Hospital, saying they tested positive for COVID-19, given medication and are kept in different rooms at the school premises to ensure that they continue with their studies and write examinations. She added that such students vaccinated against COVID-19 although some of them are Grade 8 students and new at the school thus there is a possibility that some have not vaccinated.

She therefore emphasised that the situation is under control as students are stable, saying the school is continuing to observe all COVID-19 safety protocols.

Also interviewed was the Ministry of Health Public Relations Officer Mrs. Mateboho Mosebekoa who said they have received a report that the above mentioned students tested positive for COVID-19.She said it has been a while since such cases are reported in schools reminding Basotho that COVID-19 still exists and should observe safety protocols at all times.

She also clarified that people who were announced to have had an unusual common cold tested negative for COVID-19 thus allaying fears of members of the public. Meanwhile vaccinations against COVID-19 are continuing in Lesotho and the majority have already received the booster vaccine.
