The Prime Minister of Lesotho honourable Samuel Ntsokoane Matekane together with the President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa have acknowledged deliberations made during the Inaugural session of the Lesotho-South Africa Bi-National Commission which was held in Pretoria.

Matekane expressed hope that the decisions reached will go a long way in uplifting the lives of the ordinary citizens and give them hope for a better life and livelihoods. He stated that he is glad in the manner in which Lesotho and South Africa progressively engaged on a number of areas of mutual concern, particularly on security and cross-border crimes.

Moreover, he further indicated that they appreciate the positive discussions around the possible extension of the entry visa for Basotho into South Africa from 30 days visa to 90 days visa per visit. He said this will help to resolve some of the challenges related to cross-border movement of the people.

He pointed out that they have agreed to strengthen cooperation and partnership on water and green energy resources aimed at achieving energy sovereignty and sustainable use of water for industrialisation and household consumption.
