Disability Grant and Public Assistance beneficiaries based in Maseru City Council (MCC) will no longer receive their money on October 23 as  they have been paid. This was said by Social Development Services Manager Ms. Khabane Mofoka in an interview with the Agency, following an announcement that was made earlier which indicated that the above-mentioned beneficiaries will receive their money on October 23.

Ms. Mofoka said  beneficiaries received their money on September 26, 27 and 28 at MCC Offices, saying they thought they would not be paid on these dates due to  the newly introduced method of payment.

However she said they realised that this new method of payment did not cause problems or delay as anticipated thus beneficiaries will not get double payment.She therefore indicated that beneficiaries will be paid again in December on dates yet to be identified, not this month, apologising to members of the public for inconvenience.

In another issue, Ms. Mofaka indicated that the department has conducted medical assessments for disability grants at MCC, Mohlakeng, Manonyane, Ratau, Qiloane, Mazenod and Likolobeng Community Councils, saying 71 benefiters were identified and  received the grant.She added that assessments are due to be conducted at other Councils based in Maseru district.

Meanwhile beneficiaries for disability grants are supposed to receive M600.00 monthly but they get it quarterly and receive M1, 800.
