Her Majesty, Queen Masenate Mohato Seiso, Ministry of Gender, Youth, Sports, Culture and Social Development, Ministry of Education and Training, as well as World Vision celebrated a girl child day in Rothe Yesterday.

Her Majesty, Queen Masenate said she was delighted for Lesotho to take part in celebration of girl’s day, as there are many challenges facing young girls which taint their future.

Furthermore, she outlined that Child abuse has increased since the effect of covid-19. Through rape, child marriage, human trafficking, children kidnapping and killings among others. she outlined.  She also encouraged everyone to live by the motto “little girls with dreams, become women with a vision.”

On the other hand, The Minister of Education and Training, Hon. Ntoi Rapapa praised the teachers for the great work they do to build the future of children, especially girls. He outlined that even most essential workers and service providers are women. He pleaded with students to invest their time and skills into building their own future to make a better future for them.

The event was graced by activities like mokhibo, poems and songs by students and villagers and Two hundred hygiene packs were given to school girls of Thupa-likaka primary and high school, and Tholo Primary and High School.
