The government of Botswana is concerned about high rate of gender-based violence (GBV) and people committing suicide. This was said by Major General Jacob Seelo in a conference that was hosted in the capital city of Gaborone yesterday.

Major General Jacob Seelo showed that the number of suicides in Botswana has been recorded as seven hundred and forty nine between the year 2021 and 2022.

On the other hand, an expert in mental health, Miss Thuto Dipatane said this is due to the issue of debts and that some people end up deciding to commit suicide due to stress caused by relationship issues among others
