Creatives from different walks, locally and regionally are attending a two-day building ecosystem on creative cultural industry in film and fashion held in Maseru starting FROM YESTERDAY

Hosted by GEM Institute in support with US Embassy, EU Embassy and UNESCO as well as Limkokwing University, the conference has brought together those in creative industry with the aim to recognise the ecosystem embedded in this industry and how best to utilise it to its potential so that it can grow the economy in line with Lesotho;s National Development Plan  ll review extension.

In her remarks, Ms. Mpho Letima, Founder and GEM Institute Chief Executive Officer,said the conference is one of its kind meant to embrace brains, talents, gifts and discipline shown among   creatives in an attempt to showcase their innovations and creativity. So far, she mentioned that to achieve their goal, youth have put together a film titled Li eme ka lekoa which was shot at Ha Lebamang, Roma adding that the details will be seen upon release of the film soon.

The 70 minutes film feature was supported by the EU to a tune of M1.3 million, with the film aiming to sell locally and internationally. Also speaking on behalf of donors, Mr. Charles Blake of US Embassy highlighted the importance of collective commitment to fostering an environment where creativity thrives and innovation flourishes. He alluded those cultural industries, particularly in film and fashion, are not merely expressions of arts but powerful catalysts for economic growth and social development.
