In commemoration of World Habitat Day, (WHD), the National Director of Habitat for Humanity Lesotho Mrs. Mathato Moreboli has on Thursday allocated a 2 roomed house to Lilian Monyane who is virtually impaired at Mataoeng, in Braakfontein.

Mrs. Moreboli stated that the day was designated by the United Nations as a day to reflect on the state of towns and cities, as well as the basic right of all to adequate shelter, hence after realizing that the family of 4 was staying in a small shack, they approached their partners to lend a helping hand.

On the other hand Habitat for Humanity Lesotho Marketing and Communications Officer Mr. Setoko Hlabathe highlighted that they have build 21 houses in 1 Urban and 3 Community Councils in the district this year, noting that the plan is to build 21 houses for vulnerable people who will be selected by the community in 2024.

On behalf of the beneficiaries, Chieftainess Masekoati Posholi applauded Habitat For Humanity for restoring the family’s dignity, noting  that they have been confined in a small shack, but could not offer any form of assistance.

World Habitat Day is commemorated annually on the first Monday of October, and this year it is celebrated under the theme, “let us pledge to build inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable human settlements for all people everywhere.”
