Maseru, Dec. 11-- In a solemn observance of Corruption Day, Mr. Moorosi Moshoeshoe, the Founder of Lenaka La Mohlomi, raised a sobering concern regarding the dangerous intertwining of political positions and the escalating rates of corruption within the government sector.

According to Mr. Moshoeshoe, individuals occupying these political roles often succumb to the allure of corruption, driven by a desire for swift wealth accumulation during their tenure. He lamented that the pursuit of personal gain overshadows their responsibility to foster public welfare and development.

"These politically appointed figures prioritize personal enrichment over the development of ideas that could benefit the populace," remarked Mr. Moshoeshoe, emphasizing the self-serving nature of these individuals.

While acknowledging the legitimacy of having such individuals in political roles, Mr. Moshoeshoe underscored the dire consequences of their ulterior motives. He highlighted the systemic flaw where the primary objective revolves around personal gains rather than public service.

The gravity of the situation was not lost on Mr. Moshoeshoe, who expressed deep concern over the soaring levels of corruption within the government sector. He pointed out that the intricate web of corruption often finds its roots within these offices, intertwining with the hands-on involvement of public servants within the systems.

"Lesotho stands amongst the high-rankers in the continent plagued by corruption, contributing to poor service delivery," Mr. Moshoeshoe affirmed, painting a stark reality of the country's predicament.

As Corruption Day passed, the poignant words of Mr. Moshoeshoe echoed, underscoring the urgent need for structural reforms and a collective commitment to ethical governance.

The looming shadow of corruption cast over the political sphere serves as a stark reminder of the imperative to cultivate a culture of transparency, accountability, and service to the citizens, a necessary step towards a brighter future for Lesotho.
