At least 20 vulnerable homes of the elderly, orphaned children and centers of disability were given donations as per their requests from the Prime Minister at the Christmas charity event that was held at the state house in Maseru on Thursday.

This event has been made possible by the pledge that the Prime Minister made upon resuming office as PM that he will give his salary to assist in all areas of the vulnerable across the country.

While handing over the gifts, the Prime Minister Mr. Ntsokoane Matekane said that this initiative comes after a declaration that he made during his campaigning period during the general elections.

He stated that this shall be an annual event which is aimed at making a difference in the lives of the vulnerable. Mr. Matekane however mentioned that the remaining years as Prime Minister all his salary will be diverted into such donations.

Meanwhile, the Private Secretary to the Prime Minister Ms. Moleboheng Mokobocho said that the donations are being made as per the request of each center. She said that the salary of the Prime Minister, which has been collected from November last year to November this year, amounts to M600 000.00.

Ms. Mokobocho further explained that the donations respectively come in terms of food donations, electric appliances, furniture, school fees, water and electricity bills among others.
