Better service delivery highly expected from current councilors

The Quthing District Administrator Mrs. Mapaseka K’hesa says skills acquired by the Quthing community councilors is a tool to be used for the improvement of the lives of the community they serve.

When officially closing the Councilors three-day training in Quthing, the District Administrator said participants should remember that addressing needs of the community using skills they acquired during the training will make it easier to meet their common goal to improve the lives of Liphakoe.

Presenting the code of conduct at the training, the Director Legal in the Ministry of Local Government and the Police Advocate Moupo Nteko said behavior of community councilors as community leaders is important.

He said the Councilor shall perform the functions of a council in good faith, in an honest and transparent manner.

He added that at all times the Counselor shall act in the interest of the council in such a way that the credibility and integrity of the council are not compromised.

Presenting on Conflicts management and Resolution at the same event, the Local Government Officer Mrs. Magret Bosiu said when people are working together there will be misunderstanding and conflicts, and such issues need to be addressed to attain their common goal.

She indicated that while seen as bad, and people avoid dealing with it, conflict can be helpful for growth and change. She added that conflict management helps to minimize any negative impact.

The training was intended to equip the Councilors with skills to do their work following their term in office after winning 2023 Local Government Elections.

Quthing has 123 councillors and six councils namely Mphaki, Tele, Qomoqomong, Mjanyane and Urban Council.
