The Crime Investigation Division (CID) is in the process of seizing various property which is believed to have been bought fraudulently as per the High Court Order.

Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) Senior Superintendent Kabelo Halahala on Sunday said the C.I.D officers are currently seizing the property ranging from cars, houses, furniture, sites and bank accounts of the suspects have also been freezed until the court has made the determination about the case involving Tholo Energy and the suspects.

Moreover, Senior Superintendent Halala said the property has only been preserved to avoid a situation where the suspects could destroy or misplace it as it will be used as an exhibition before the courts of law.

He said the suspects are mostly found in the Maseru district and that they have only been remanded outside the court while awaiting their next appearance before the court and the fate of the preserved property will only be determined by the courts of law’ he commented.

Snr/Supt Halahala also explained the presence of the Special Operations Unit (SOU) during the execution of the seizure of the property, saying they were only ensuring that the C.I.D officers carry out their job without any intimidation or interference.

The High Court had granted preserving property and prohibiting any interested person or any other person from disposing or otherwise dealing with, hampering or selling in execution, diminishing the value of or dealing in any other manner with the movable or immovable property or such part thereof or interest thereof. The suspects are believed to have defrauded Tholo Energy 40 million Maloti, since April last year.
