At least 40 Law enforcement officers from the Southern districts honed their skills during a three-day training organised by Women and Law in Southern Africa (WLSA) Lesotho held in Quthing.

 

Officially closing the event, Magistrate in charge of the courts of law in the southern districts Chief Magistrate Manyathela Rakolobe, said the training has been important as it ensured that participants are well informed with the new laws and regulations to their work of law enforcement professionally.

He stated that participants are expected to deliver justice by the community and being well informed with the new laws and amendments of other laws will make it easier to serve the public as expected.

The District Police Commander Senior Inspector ‘Mamoipone Mohloai commended WLSA for the training as it will reduce incidents in which some cases had to return to the police from procession to due to uncomplete investigations, adding that the duty of the police is also to provide legal information and guidance to the community to avoid cases in which some people offend the law due to ignorance.

The WLSA programmes Director Advocate ‘Mamosa Mohlabula-Nokana expressed gratitude for the committed participation of the Law enforcement officers at the training as it demonstrated people who are eager to hone their skills and do their work professionally. She promised more training to the participants as requested for effective service delivery in law enforcement and delivery of justice.
