With the purpose of affording  general public an opportunity to provide inputs and comments aimed at regulating the postal sector, the Lesotho Communications Authority has on Monday held public consultations.

LCA'S  Regulatory Affairs Officer Mr. Maama Maama stated that Draft Postal and Courier Services Rules, 2023 objective also aims at  guaranteeing that all users of postal services are granted equal access and usage of the services in similar circumstances, while safeguarding their rights in their dealings with postal service providers.

Mr. Maama noted that the authority shall regulate, supervise and monitor compliance in postal services, by imposing relevant penalties where necessary mentioning that  the public has until March, 08 to forward their opinions to the LCA. On the other hand, participants applauded LCA for regulating postal  services, by stating that it has become costly to use unlicensed runners who charge hilarious amounts, hence the need for the regulatory body to intervene.The workshop was attended by heads of departments and representation from various community councils
