With 51 cases registered for the 2023 October session of the Court of Appeal, another 50 cases have been registered for the first session of the Court which is scheduled to commence on Monday next week.During the April 2023 first session of the Court of Appeal only 36 cases were registered.

The Court of Appeal has been operating with judges comprising the President of the Court of Appeal Professor Kananelo Mosito together with Justices Petrus Damaseb, Moses Chinghengo, Dr. Johann Van de Westeheizen, and Philip Musonda as well as November Mtshiya of Zimbabwe who however passed away in August 2023 at the age of 77.

Due to the large number of cases registered for the October 2023 session, the Court of Appeal engaged two judges of the High Court Justices Moroke Mokhesi and Polo Banyane in order to ensure that all cases were disposed of.  It is expected that judgments for the first session of the court will be delivered on May 03 2024. The Court of Appeal is the final authority of the judicial system of Lesotho. It was established under the Constitution of Lesotho and created through the Court of Appeal Act 1978.
