SEASONED POLITICIAN HONOURED AT A MEMORIAL SERVICE
Seasoned politician honoured at a memorial service

The late Political figure and former Marematlou Freedom Party (MFP) Leader, Mr. Moeketse Vincent Malebo (92) was honoured with a memorial service held in Maseru on Wednesday.

This is after the deceased met his death recently due to what has been tamed Sudden Cardiac Arrest as according to the family’s Doctor, Mrs. Mathulo Lipalesa Monyake.  Family, grandchildren, friends, colleagues and veterans in the political arena were all there to honour and remember the late Minister of Justice, Parliamentarian and Diplomat amongst others.

Speaker after speaker hailed him as a hero, intelligent character but above all, a firm man whose stance against corruption happening in both government and private sector became public knowledge while Chairing Public Accounts Committee in the National Assembly previously.

During the service, honourable Matjato Moteane, Minister of Transport and Public Works delivered condolences on behalf of government, saying Lesotho and Basotho were grateful to God for having afforded them an opportunity to live with a man of Mr. Malebo’s calibre.

On behalf of colleagues in the political sphere, former Prime Minister, Dr. Pakalitha Mosisili said the deceased was such a pleasure to work with as he was a good listener like the late Prime Minister Dr. Ntsu Mokhehle, a skill that is vital in leading government, especially coalition governments.

Former Foreign Affairs Minister, Mr. Mohlabi Tsekoa said Mr. Malebo did wood work, learnt music while still at the college in Morija and became part of the Manong group at the time. He said Mr Malebo was a true servant, teacher, follower and a leader as well as a fighter.

Mr. Malebo is said to have entered civil service at the age of 24 during colonial era in 1955, thus led the launch of state radio in 1964 and was Director of Information and broadcasting. The Late Mr. Malebo will be honoured with a state funeral to be held in Maseru on today.
