The cause of accident is unknown at this stage, and police are investigating a case of culpable homicide.

Five women in possession of Lesotho passports were found dead inside their car after it overturned along the R26 road between Senekal and Rosendal, police said on Monday.

“On Saturday, 11 March, 2017, at about 7.05pm, we attended a vehicle accident scene at R26 road between Senekal and Rosendal, where five women were found dead inside an overturned blue Ford Fingo sedan vehicle with registration no DB 80 PP GP,” said Captain Phumelelo Dhlamini, who is stationed at Ficksburg.

“The cause of accident is unknown at this stage, and we are investigating a case of culpable homicide.”

Dhlamini said police found five Lesotho passports inside the vehicle. “It is believed that they may be Lesotho nationals and might have been travelling from Gauteng to Lesotho.”
