Major Pitso Ramoepane of the Lesotho Defence Force LDF has appeared before Maseru Magistrate Court charged with murder of the Commander of LDF Lieutenant General Khoantle Motsomotso.

Major Ramoepane of St. Monica’s in Leribe is charged per a directive from the Director of Public Prosecutions Reference Number L/DPP/17/585 dated September 12, 2017 with contravening the provisions of Section 40 (1) read with 109 of the Penal Code Act No. 6 of 2010.

According to the charge, he is alleged to have shot and killed Lieutenant General Motsomotso with a gun all over his body during an incident that happened at Ratjomose Barracks on September fifth this year.

After his charge was read and explained to him, Major Ramoepane’s Lawyer Advocate Letuka Molati asked for the court’s indulgence to allow him to talk with his client as he did not get the chance to do so, which the court allowed.

Major Ramoepane was also informed by the court that he can apply for his release on bail at the High Court, and the crown also informed the court that investigations into the case are continuing and Major Ramoepane was ordered to re-appear before court on September 28th, for his next remand.
