Mokhotlong Police arrests sixteen taxi operaters over the cross boarder clashes

Mokhotlong Police has arrested sixteen taxi operators who are members of the Mokhotlong and Kwazulu-Natal taxi associations, following the cross boarder clashes that happened in Mokhotlong.


The commander of Mokhotlong Police Senior Supretendent T’seliso T’sita, said police arrested the taxi operaters after weekend clashes that ended up into gun shots and stone battles between the two cross boarder associations of Mokhotlong along the road to Sani pass.


He said the preliminary investigations revealed that the battle was triggered by members of the Kwazulu-Natal and Ha-Makhakhe Taxi Associations, when they attacked and Injured Mokhotlong taxi operaters.

He said regardless of the clashes among the taxi owners, they cannot just watch the lives of the passengers being put at risk, but they encourage peaceful ways of resolving matters according to the operating licences of taxi operaters.
