Ministry of Tourism and Culture celebrates the international archives day
11 June 2018 | 12:32

The Ministry of Tourism, Environment and Culture will celebrate the international archives day in Maseru today, which is celebrated annually on the 9th June.

The Ministry says it is going to celebrate this day by making people aware, of the importance of saving history books and materials, with the aim of passing information to the next generation.

They indicate that the celebration will help people learn the difference between different governments in Lesotho, starting from the British colonial rule to the government led by the local chiefs in the country.

At the celebration the Ministry of Tourism will launch a new film, and a new museum to keep historical images, historical books and art materials.

The International Archives day was initiated by the United Nations(UN), at its international congress in Vienna in 2004, with the aim of raising awareness to the general public and decision makers, about the importance of archives and its profession.
