The High Court of Lesotho has issued the interim court order, to stop the factory workers salary increment of M2 000, which was to be effective from the 1st August 2018.
This comes after the employers in the factory workers filed the notice of motion, in which they asked the court to order the Minister of Labour and Employment, to give reasons why she cannot interdict the gazette allowing the factory workers salaries to be increased to M2 000, until the case filed before the court is finalized.
The applicants are the Lesotho Textile Exporters and Lesotho Employers and Business, and their complaint is that the decision regarding the increment of factory workers salaries, was made without following all the procedures.
In their court case the applicants further state that the respondents which are the Minister of Labour and Employment, cabinet ministers, wages advisory board and attorney general, made the decision on the increment of factory workers salaries under political influence.
The court case will be heard on Thursday this week.
