The Honorable Prime Minister Dr Motsoahae Thomas Thabane arrived in Lesotho yesterday, from the 38th SADC Summit of Heads of States and Governments, held in Windhoek Namibia from the 17th to the 18th August 2018.
On his arrival Dr Thabane said at the summit, heads of states and governments review Lesotho’s progress in constitutional reforms, and in implementing SADC’s decisions relating to constitutional reforms in Lesotho, particularly reforms relating to security and national constitution.
He explained that at the summit heads of states and governments requested that by May next year, Lesotho should have completed the constitutional reforms process.
He pointed out that on the issue of SADC decisions relating to recommendations of Chief Justice Mphaphi Phumaphe, the summit congratulated Lesotho by implementing them, especially decisions relating to putting before the courts of law, suspects of cruel criminal activities which include brutal killings of innocent people.
Dr Thabane further said SADC called on exiled political party leaders in Lesotho, to return in the country and take part in the constitutional reforms process.
