The Women Parliamentary Committee had a meeting in Maseru yesterday, to discuss the challenges facing women and girls in Lesotho.

During the meeting the committee chairperson Honorable ‘Matsepo Ramakoae, said as women parliamentarians they have made a decision about the challenges facing women and girls in Lesotho, which include poverty, child marriage and women who die while giving birth.

Honorable Ramakoae said these challenges are depressing, and they need all stakeholders to stand up against them.

She indicated that as women parliamentarians they have to be in the fore-frond of the campaigns of fighting challenges facing women and girls in Lesotho, which also depress the economy of the country.

She called on all women parliamentarians and all women leaders in Lesotho to put aside their political differences, and ensure that women and girls enjoy their human rights equally to their male counter parts.
