The united states Government Through the U.S Agency for Internationnal Development USAID, and THE Government of Lesotho signed a five year Bilateral Development Objective Grant Agreement to provide the framework for USAID`S  presidents emergency Plan For AIDS relief (PEPFER) Funding for Lesotho in MASERU Yesterday.

The United States government has spent more than 384 million us dollars toward achieving HIV/AIDS epidemic control in Lesotho.However the 250 MILIION US DOLLARS expected for USAID is in addition to other PEPFAR funding that goes to the centres for disease control and prevention (CDC) and other U.S.government agencies currently supporting Lesotho`s HIV/AIDS response.

On that Occasion the US ambassador to Lesotho  Her Exellency Rebecca E Gonzales stated that the united states is extremely proud with their long standing partnership with Lesotho especially their joints efforts to save lives through PEPFER over the last ten years.

She indicates that US continues to work closely with the government of Lesotho and their implementing partners on a daily basis to ensure Basotho living with HIV/AIDS receive the testing,counseling and treatment services they need to live healthy productive lives.

She also added that under the bilateral agreement, the United States plans to make available up to 250 milion dollars to combat HIV/AIDS in Lesotho till 2023. And also that the united states is committed to its parteneship with the Basotho people and the Government of Lesotho.

ON that Occasion on behalf of the minister of development plannining the minister of energy honourable Mokoto Hloele articulated that this agreement paved the way for resources to be neutralized by the third party Agencies under the watchful eye of the ministry of health and the USAID for the betterment of the people.

He therefore urged such potential implementers to align themselves with the commitment Demonstrated by the two governments in achieving the intended objectives of the agreement.
