After having shortage of staff up to more than a month, Livestock Registration Officer Leribe under Ministry of Local government, Chieftainship, Home Affairs and Police says they have been allocated 236 new staff members to assist in registration and marking of animals.

Mrs. Lineo Mafoso revealed this during an interview with the agency on Tuesday. She explained that this came after the staff they had left on July 8, 2024, forcing them to withhold registration and marking of animals. Additionally, she said reinforcing the procedures the beweys writers were warned to stop writing beweys for people who came without markings and registration.

She said for this past period, the farmers selling and buying relations were affected as there were no beweys writers to assist. Talking about the new staff, she said the new staff will receive full training next week, on the date yet to be announced. The staff will be allocated to Lejone, Pitseng, Khabo, Maisaphoka,Hlotse, Qamo and Peka resource centres.
