Mokhotlong __ 52 students received their certificates at a graduation ceremony held at Molumong Vocational School in Mokhotlong on Friday.
Graduates completed a one-year certificate programme in different courses that include Catering and Hospitality Management as well as Carpentry and Welding.
Speaking at the 19th graduation ceremony since the Molumong Vocational School started, the Director from Technical and Vocational Department (TVD) under the Ministry of Education and Training Mr. Thabang Mokotjo congratulated those who received certificates and urged them to use the skills acquired at the school to become job creators and not seekers.
He encouraged them to continue with training to upgrade their qualifications highlighting that the school also needs to introduce more programmes for improvement.
Mr. Mokotjo further said before the end of February next year the school inspectors will visit the school to do the much-needed inspections so as to help the school to grow and become one of the best vocational institutions in the country.
Also speaking was the Schools Secretary under the administration of Churches Mr. Moses Phole who also expressed concern over a slow pace at which the school is developing saying inspection is needed for every school to address challenges schools face on time.
He thanked parents for bringing their children to the school to learn skills they can apply to create jobs and be able to meet their socio-economic needs.
The graduates thanked their parents for supporting them and teachers for the knowledge and skills they provided them saying they both made their learning journey at the school possible and rewarding.
Molumong Vocational School was established in 2005 under the Lesotho Evangelical Church in Southern Africa. Next year it will be marking its 20th anniversary of establishment.
