The District Child Protection Team (DCPT) Leribe on Thursday sensitized Holy Family students on how they can avoid crime related activities.

Addressing the students, DCPT Secretary Mr. Morema Phits'ane said the purpose of the visit was to highlight criminal issues observed around St. Monica's as to protect the students.

He indicated that the team is aimed at preventing criminal activities and taking measures while sensitizing children on such, additionally, he said amongst other things to be combated are child labour and harmful traditional practices.

However, he stated that every child has a right to be guided by the parents and teachers through different ways but without the intention of physical harm.  He also advised children to avoid going out at night, drinking alcohol and peer pressure from some of their friends.

On the other hand, an Officer of Anti Trafficking In Persons, Lieutenant Sergeant Likeleli Lebeko, urged the children to report any form of abuse either at school or home. She also advised the students to stop going out of the school yard without permission, saying they have to obey the rules of the school until they are through with their studies.
