Monday, 18 August 2025 | 12:41

Some members of the public as well as ex-inmates say they welcome the Commission of Inquiry on the escape of inmate’s report and expect the government to implement its recommendations as they are more or less the same with those of the Ombudsman.

These, they said in an interview with LENA, a few days after the report was tabled in the National Assembly, and, Crime Prevention, Rehabilitation and Reintegration of Ex-Offenders Association (CRROA) Executive Director, Mr. Nkalimeng Mothobi said although he was still going through the report, they are expecting the government to implement its recommendations and ensure the police conduct investigations on those alleged to have assaulted Bokang Tsoako to death and injured others so that they could be brought to book.

He also said they expect the Lesotho Correctional Service (LCS) to conduct disciplinary hearings against those implicated in the assault of inmates, and develop policies and programs to transform the culture of torturing inmates, commending the Commission for the job well done.
