A 25-year-old Thato Monatha of Manamela, Ha Talimo is serving two years in prison after failing to pay a M2000.00 fine for house breaking.According to the court papers, the accused broke into the house of 86-year-old ‘Mamokone Mfundisi around 4:00am on June 7, 2023, where he broke a bulb and damaged LNB cable. The accused has been charged with contravening the provisions if section (65) (1), (2) read with section 109 of the Penal Code no.6 of 2010 (House Breaking). According to Mfundisi, she was woken up by the shaking door that happened three times. She then looked through the window to see who was on the door as she shouted for the person to leave her yard. However, the accused gained entry and went straight to the complainant who recognised and called the perpetrator by his name. Upon realisation that he has been identified he then flee from the house.

The matter was reported to the Chief who later reported the matter to the Police. The case was before Magistrate ‘Manyefolo Ramakhula and Prosecutor ‘Makhotso Letsoisa. In another case, a 41-year-old Lefa Likotsi of Khapung in Leribe has appeared before Botha- Bothe Magistrate court on account of assaulting two people from the same village.

The accused is charged for contravening section 31 (1)(a)(b) of the Penal Code No.6 of The accused is said to have assaulted Mofolisi Mathe with a fighting stick all over the body with the intention of causing bodily harm and physical disability. The accused further went on to beat Thabiso Phomane with the same intention for reasons not yet known to the court.
