Last week, starting on Thursday, the Basotho nation commemorated the historic journey of King Moshoeshoe I from Menkhoaneng in the Butha-Buthe district to Thaba Bosiu in the Maseru district.
This migration dates back to 1824, when Moshoeshoe I led his people away from Menkhoaneng following attacks by rival tribes.
During the celebration, His Majesty King Letsie III expressed his sincere gratitude to the entire Basotho nation and the other tribes who participated in honoring this legacy. Furthermore, the journey received significant support from a diverse coalition, including various companies, non-governmental organizations, elected officials, high-ranking government officers, other ethnic groups, and the Basotho nation at large.
