The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations Mr. Lejone Mpotjoane participated in the 3rd AU-EU Ministerial Meeting and the 1st AU-EU Ministerial

Follow-up Meetings in Brussels on Wednesday.These high-level gatherings are a part of a broader effort to revitalize the AU-EU partnership,underscored shared commitments to democracy, peace and security and sustainable development and youth empowerment, while marking 50 years since the signing of the Lomé Convention which is a cornerstone of EU-Africa cooperation. These meetings provided a vital platform for dialogue between AU and EU Member states.Discussions focused on strengthening the strategic partnership between the two continents,

addressing shared challenges like climate change and inequality and exploring opportunities for enhanced cooperation in renewable energy, governance, and trade. Mr. Mpotjoane’s participation underscored Lesotho’s commitment to multilateralism and its active role in fostering stronger Africa-Europe ties. His engagement ensured Lesotho’s voice and interests including advocacy for renewable energy investments and governance reforms were represented on the global stage, aligning with the outcomes of the Lesotho-EU Partnership

Dialogue held in Maseru on May, 15, 2025. The Ministerial Meetings culminated in preparations for the 2025 AU-EU Summit, where Lesotho aims to drive investments in renewable energy initiatives and advocates for International governance reforms. Mr. Mpotjoane’s participation also reinforced Lesotho’s diplomatic footprint, exemplified by the recent accreditation of Ambassador ‘Mantoetsi Mohatonyane to the EU on Tuesday.
