MOKALOBA BLAMED FOR BOMBINGS, SHOOTING
26 July 2024 | 08:34

Maseru, Jul.25----Major General Ramanka Mokaloba who is currently under cross-examination in the ongoing bombings trial has been blamed for the bombings which occurred at the homes of Liabiloe Ramoholi in Moshoeshoe II and Khothatso Tsooana at Ha Abia as well as shooting of Teboho Mojapela in January 2014.

Legal representative for Retired Army Commander Lieutenant General Tlali Kamoli, Advocate Letuka Molati told Mokaloba that he organised an illegal operation to attack the two homes and the shooting of Mojapela. He added that he organised the attacks without the knowledge of the army command.

The lawyer further told the witness that he used a soldier named Mosothoane for the bombings and  Khobotlo for the shooting of Mojapela.

He stated that he will later argue that Mokaloba is an influential and cunning person who has powerful people in his corner who always save him whenever he is in trouble. He indicated that he always escapes the wrath of the law adding that he does things and throws other people under the bus.

Adv. Molati pointed out that there is a reason why he is not among the accused charged with the bombings. He said there was political intervention which saved him from facing the law after the bombings. He added that following the shooting of Mojapela, he was arrested but Mr. Monyane Moleleki intervened and he was released.

In his response, the witness denied being involved in the planning and executing of the attacks at Ha Abia and Moshoeshoe II. He stated that Kamoli planned the attacks and dragged some people into the operation which landed them where they are. He even remarked that they were humiliated by the acts of Kamoli.

He indicated that police have done their investigations and if anyone has a different information from the police findings should come forward with such information.

The accused in this case include Kamoli and some army members, including Pitso Ramoepana, Litekanyo Nyakane, Heqoa Malefane and Mohlalefi Seitlheko. They are facing charges including attempted murder and malicious damage to property.

The bombings are alleged to have occurred at the homes of Maesiah Thabane the then Liabiloe Ramoholi at Moshoeshoe II and Former Commissioner of Police Khothatso Tsooana at Ha-Abia in 2014.

The case is before Justice Charles Hungwe.
