Nts'ekhe Government Hospital has recently been reported to have outdone itself countrywide in the Africa Vaccination Week which was launched by the Ministry of Health a week ago. In an interview with the Agency, Child Health Officer, Mrs. Banana Ntho was happy about an outstanding performance of the district, noting that they managed to vaccinate about 8000 children, while in the previous campaign which was in October 2022, they reached 64 percent of their target.

Mrs. Ntho however indicated that scarcity of transport and rough terrain hindered their operation as they were unable to deliver services to the hard to reach areas, but emphasized that had it not been for those challenges they could have reached 80 percent of children. She concluded by appreciating the unwavering support they got from the Ministry of Health, EPI Vaccine Store and other authorities at the District level.

Africa Vaccination Week is an annual event celebrated during the last week of April in synchronization with WHO Regions and the World Immunization Week, (WIW), with the goal of strengthening immunization programmes in African Region, while increasing awareness on the importance of every child's need and right to be protected from vaccine preventable diseases.
