The kingdom of Lesotho hosted a welcoming reception for assuming office by His Excelency Mr Lei KeZhong, Ambassador of the Peoples Republic of China in Maseru yesterday.

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Honourable Halebonoe Setshabi conveyed his warm welcome remarks to Mr Kezhong on behalf of the Government of Lesotho.

He articulated that Kezhong`s coming to Lesotho is a source of their pride for it signifies the importance to which the Government of China attaches to the relations between the two sister countries and its people.

He further said Lesotho is very grateful to welcome him and to promise him their full cooperation as a country and support during his tenure of office as Ambassador of China to Lesotho.

In his remarks His Excellency Mr Lei Kezhong indicated that at his first sight of Lesotho, he was amazed by the unique and spectacular landscapes of the mountain kingdom and deeply moved by the kindness, friendliness and hospitality of Basotho people.

Moreover, he stated that this year marks the 25th anniversary of the resumption of the diplomatic relations between the Peoples Republic of China and the Kingdom of Lesotho.

However he said he is greatly honoured to be Chinese Ambassador to Lesotho and that he is keenly aware of his responsibilities. He therefore promised to spare no efforts to fulfill his lofty mission in promoting and strengthening friendly exchanges and cooperation between the two countries.
