Quthing ___ More than two-hundred volunteers in land rehabilitation activity at Letša-La-Letsie Regeneration of Landscape and Livelihoods and (ROLL) Project catchment will receive protective clothing at an event to be held at Ha-Lazaro on Tuesday next week.

The protective clothing to be freezer jackets will be presented to the beneficiaries who are various public groups within the project catchment, and are voluntarily engaged in brush control activity for recovery of the over grazed area around Letša-La-Letsie.

In an interview with Lesotho News Agency, ROLL Quthing Project Field Officer Ms Moselantja Rahlao highlighted that community from villages within the project catchment is already voluntary making an effort to meet its felt need to see Letša-La-Letsie grazing area and wetlands recovered, and it is working despite cold weather conditions hence the project will support them with freezer jacket.

Ms. Rahlao said voluntary commitment in the ongoing activity to remove indigenous shrubs that have invaded grass in the area around Letša-La-Letsie, demonstrates public understanding of its role in recovery of biodiversity and conservation at Letša-La-Letsie.

She said the laborers that were removing indigenous shrubs started with their own equipment when they voluntarily decided to start the land rehabilitation activity earlier last year, after which they were provided with support of equipment aiding in performance of land rehabilitation in September and it was presented by the Minister of Environment Mr. Letsema Adont'si.

A community voluntary engaged in brush control activity is from more than 10 villages within the project area. The villages include Ha-Lazaro, Ha-Peete, Pulane, Lefelisa, Tryhoek, Atont'si, Motjoli and Khalong-la-Likhama.

The Roll project is also being implemented in Thaba-Tseka, Leribe, Berea, Qacha’s Nek, and Botha-Bothe. It is funded by different deferment partners that include international partners that include FAD, Food and Agricultural Association (FAO) Global Environment Facility (GEF) and the government of Lesotho for the value of M700 Million
