Maseru ___ The Principal Secretary (PS) in the Ministry of Tourism, Environment and Culture says, Basotho are expected to wear national flag colours during the 58th Independence Day celebration on Friday.

Mr. Pokello Moferefere Mahlomola said the independence's day event at Setsoto Stadium will also be marking a series of other events intended to bring Basotho together in celebration of the bicentennial.

According to the Principal Secretary PS, the government has also introduced a variety of blankets including Seshoeshoe cloths ranging from green to blue colours in a bid to bring solidarity among the nation during this historic period.

He said the blankets made up of Morena Moshoeshoe 1 including Paramount Chiefs as well as their Majesties signal the importance of leadership in the Mountain Kingdom since 1824, as well as the need to unite for peace and prosperity in the country.

Meanwhile, he also alluded that a variety of cultural regalia are also allowed on this day, further indicating the Xhoza people from Quthing are also allowed to dress up, saying this would bring diversity to the celebration.

Other activities highlighting 200 years after independence will include food tasting, mega festival and carnival to mention but a few.

He appealed to Basotho to attend the memorable event, stating gates at the Setsoto Stadium will be opened from 06:00am and all are expected to be seated and settled by 09:00am local time.

In conclusion, he pointed out there will be speeches, LDF parade, Sotho hip hop performances and different traditional plays in celebration of independence as well as 200 years.
