Leribe, Dec.02 -- The public servants have been urged to archive the documents they receive in their offices through the registry office for future purposes.
This was highlighted by Lesotho Institute of Public Administration and Management (LIPAM) Consultant Mr. Bataung Mohapeloa while narrating the importance of Organizational Communication to 26 public servants attending a five-day training on Ethics and Professionalism Program which commenced on Monday and will end on Friday at Hlotse in Leribe
Mr. Mohapeloa explained the importance of archiving as a point of reference for the future.
He reiterated that for offices which do not have a registry office, one should create space in his office for filing of documents.
Furthermore, he said Government Correspondence in Communication through letters, memo and circulars.
He cited social platforms such as WhatsApp as a simple and easy way of communicating within the organization but not an authorized way hence the above mentioned should be adhered to.
This he stressed after some servants indicated that they throw away some documents after two to three years of use, so as to create space for new ones.
However, they agreed that they did this out of knowledge, agreeing that they will from now on archive, saying they wanted to keep their offices tidy and create space.
They highlighted that they do not have registry offices except the office of District Administration.
The purpose of the program is to enhance the servants' leadership skills and Codes of good practice, expected to execute the duties in good manner within their offices.
LIPAM is a specialized agency within the Ministry of Public Service in Lesotho, focusing on training and developing public officers to improve government efficiency and service delivery through programs, research and consultancy.
The next training will be held in Mokhotlong.
