Vodacom Lesotho has, on Wednesday, unveiled Consumer Protection Code which is designed to empower customers and safeguard their rights.

According to the Manager Public Relations and Corporate Communication, Mr. Lebohang Chefa the code is intended to guarantee access to services, freedom of choice, clear and transparent agreements, accurate billing, consumer education, privacy protection, fair treatment, prevention of market abuse, and an effective grievance resolution mechanisms.

Executive Head of External Affairs and Regulatory, Mr. Ts’epo Ntaopane said the implementation of the code which is in both English and Sesotho, the company underscores ensuring that every interaction with services is marked by integrity, transparency, and respect among all people who engage with the brand.

The code was developed as a requirement by the Lesotho Communications Authority (LCA)’s Administrative Rules 2016 and the Consumer Protection Guidelines (2022).

Among other things, Retail Manager Vodacom Lesotho, Ms. Maggie Mokhatla commented that the code will also serve as a guide to customer complaints and privacy protection. She highlighted the need for the company’s clientele to become privy to the information about the complaints procedures.

Ms. Mokhatla said the company is committed to protecting the privacy of its customers and has put in place measures to ensure that all confidential information and communication is protected.

She noted that telecommunications users have to be equipped against market abuse, adding that no one in the company has a right to release any customer information unless it is by the order of the court.
