Lesotho National Diary Board in collaboration with Lesotho National Farmers Union (LENAFU) and Lesotho Dairy Farm Farmers Association (LEDAFA) on Thursday celebrated World Milk Day in Ha-Makuili within Maama constituency. The celebration took a form of marketing  or trade fair whereby milk processors showcased their dairy productsmade from locally produced milk. The day has been celebrated annually on June 01 since 2001 but this is the first time it is celebrated in Lesotho, under the theme; "Enjoy Dairy". It is at the same event that Manonyane Milk Collection Centre was officially opened.In his remarks Minister of Trade, Industry Business Development and Tourism Mr. Mokhethi Shelile on behalf of Minister of Agriculture, Food Security and Nutrition said that it is the responsibility of ministry to ensure that all agricultural products are recognized so that farmers can benefit.He said that it is high time that Basotho do away with the dependency syndrome and importation of food saying that if all work together Lesotho would be able to provide for itself.He said as the government, they are engaging more in agriculture so that Lesotho can go back to be a producing country.
