Anticipatory Action beneficiaries at Tsanatalana Community Council says they have selected wetland area within the area to carry out light works of constructing drinking ponds for both their livestock and members of the community as the area has the potential of reliable water sources even during dry seasons.   Presenting to the District Disaster Management Authority and World Food Programme

mission on Wednesday on behalf of the working team Mrs. Mathapelo Matsoha said the area has a capability of providing different residents from different villages with water during dry seasons .

Mrs. Matsóha also highlighted that they also do their washing at the area hence their agreement together with their local authority that light work should be carried out in the area, requesting the mission to provide them with resources that would sustain their spring as now they have used stone leaving it unprotected during heavy rains. She indicated that they are not harvesting water for only the mentioned activities but also for controlling soil erosion, showing that the initiative has also contributed in improving their livelihoods in the area particularly when it comes to water harvesting.

Majority of the beneficiaries applauded the government of Lesotho working together with World Food Programme for taking the project in the area as it has been beneficial showing that through the provided incentive they have paid their children;s school fees and have used it for buying basic needs of which without the project they were unable to do. Some have cited that it has assisted them to pay their debts within the established society intended to generate income while others shown that they have paid school fees for driving schools so that they will be able to look for jobs with official driving licences.

They however, expressed concern over delay of payment of incentives, introduction of UNAYO being controlled by one of the local banks whereby some of the beneficiaries are unable to operate through it and as a result getting assistance to people who end up taking their incentive, asking the use of electronic payment through use of available mobile service providers financial platforms.
