The Principal Secretary (PS) in the Ministry of Information, Communications, Science, Technology and Innovation (MICSTI) says, as the globe is on digital transformation, there is a need for entities to build websites of their own.

Kanono Ramashamole said this following the launch of UNDP E-Services outlets model in the country that has seen over 30 E-Services outlets locally completing a training to pave way for effective implementation of the outlets model. He says Building the websites will go a long way in promoting clean online services, especially at this crucial time when the government through the Ministry of Information is on a journey to ensure that government services go online.

According to the PS, plans are on the pipeline for government to have at least over 1 000 services on line, saying with construction of more websites in various companies, this would not only meet government half way but will also ensure that services offered by providers are reliable, clean while point of reference will even become easier for the clientele. He has called on the government through the Ministry of Information to create an enabling environment so that this initiative becomes a success.

Meanwhile, those in the internet penetration spectrum have welcomed the move indicating the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) leaves Lesotho with no choice but to move forward as the world of technology is becoming dynamic day by day.

Furthermore, reports indicate that over M160 million has been allocated within the 2024/25 fiscal year budget for ICT infrastructure development and strengthening digital transformation and also the Ministry of Information is on a campaign to mark 200 years’ existence of the Basotho nation through digitisation.
