Maseru __ The Local Conference of Youth (LCOY) on Climate Change scheduled to take place in Maseru this week has been postponed due to unforeseen circumstances.
This was disclosed by LCOY Partnerships Coordinator, Kopano Khama in an interview with the Agency on Sunday.
He explained that the new dates for the 2024 conference themed Lesotho “Youth at the Front line: Shaping the Future of Climate Action in Lesotho", will be announced via different communication platforms.
He said young people play a crucial role in driving sustainable development and climate action, adding the LCOY conference would offer a unique space to come together, share their perspectives, and collaborate on finding effective solutions to the environmental challenges facing Lesotho and the entire globe.
Additionally, he pointed out that the conference would prepare fully ahead of the UN Climate Change Conference (UNFCCC Cop 29) that will convene from 11 to 22 November in Baku, Azerbaijan.
"This is a significant event focusing on addressing the challenges of climate change, thus environmental organisations, scientists and civil society including Lesotho representatives will participate". He stressed.
Therefore, the Partnerships Coordinator is adamant that the time is now for Youth to actively partake and come up with solutions as changes in the weather patterns have left the world on a brink of climate catastrophe.
The Agency has established LCOYs' are organised by youth all around the world to contribute to sustainability. In Lesotho the event is organised with support of ReNOKA.
