At least 10 pupils received school shoes from Boikhethelo General Dealer at Ha Tlai Tlai Hlotse in Leribe on Friday. Speaking in an interview with the agency on Friday, the owner and member of Lesotho Mounted Police Service (LMPS) Mr. Thabiso Mokete said the purpose of the event was to adhere to social responsibility. He explained that the children come from different schools around Hlotse. In response to how they were chosen, he said he would always see the pupils when they pass by to and from and that is when he noticed that they were in need of school shoes. Mokete said having appropriate school shoes gives the child confidence in pursuing his studies.
He indicated that it is his plan to give out to pupils every year, in different activities. In an interview with the agency one of the community members Mrs. Mahlompho Sello said the community is proud that the children are cared for.She said most of the children come from poor families and having a helping hand from other concerned community members is a blessing. Another one who opted for anonymity said it would be best that the number of the children assisted increases from next year. He said other concerned community members should also offer a helping hand in supporting the children to achieve best education adhering to the idiom “Letsoele le beta poho”. Ha Tlatlai is found within Hlotse Urban Council, near Ha Molibeli.
